An Ounce of Prevention

Recently, we visited law enforcement recruits at the Police Academy in Palm Bay, Florida, where Doug Monda, founder of Survive First Foundation, told his own personal experience with depression, PTSD, and attempted suicide. He spoke of the lifestyle and mood changes he experienced, and how intervention and treatment ultimately saved his life. Doug was lucky. He did not become a statistic. His message to today’s class was to understand the warning signs and most importantly to never be afraid to seek help for oneself or another brother…that they will never have to fight that battle alone, should it ever arise…there is help
